Spring 2016 Sephora VIB Sale

It was that time of the year again: Sephora's VIB ROUGE/VIB INSIDER SALE!

I love love love when Sephora has their VIB Rouge/VIB Insider sale. It is easily one of my favorite retail sales of the year, and this year, I almost missed it! I don't know how I let that happen, but luckily, I was able to get to Sephora, on the LAST day of the sale.

Now, let me tell you, it is easy to go nuts and get EVERYTHING that you have been lusting over for the past few months during this sale, but that's not always a good idea.

One, it may will end up costing you a fortune (even with the 15% or 10% off), and two because you may end up buying the 'it products' that under normal circumstances you wouldn't be interested in. And you know those darn gals at Sephora a great at making you fall in love with EVERYTHING in the store! I have been a victim to BOTH of these situations and neither are them are fun or particularly nice to your wallet. So this year, with all that in mind, I took my sale shopping very carefully (albeit last minute) and had a very successful trip to Sephora!  I picked up some really awesome products that I'm pumped to start using! I had been wanting to try out some more of the Anastasia Beverly Hills items because the Brow Wiz and Brow Definer have become Holy Grails in my beauty routine, so this was the perfect opportunity to buy some of the products I had been eyeing for the past few months. In retrospect, I wish I stepped away from the Anastasia kiosk, but I was just so focused on grabbing what I wanted that some of my other wish list items will have to wait until the next sale. Whomp whomp

Oh well.

So what did I get? Let's check it out!

*Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Gleam
*Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Catnip
*Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Sake
*Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadows in Rosette, Buon Fresco, Iridescent Purple and Baby Cakes
*Nars Narcissist Cheek Studio Palette
*Formula X The System
*Dry Bar Bay Breeze Hydrating Shot (using Beauty points)
*Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation (not pictured)

I had to shove a small child away from the Nars kiosk to grab the last Cheek Studio Palette, but all in all I had a very successful trip to Sephora (I'm just kidding, I didn't shove a child..... although I did use my ninja skills to grab 2 "last one" products on this trip).

I am most excited to try out the new Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadows because I have seen so many great reviews and tutorials using them, that I just can't wait to try them out myself! The Nars cheek palette was the curve ball for me, but I LOVE other Nars products and I'm pretty sure this will be no different.

Anyway, I'm really excited to give all these products a try! Did any of you pick up these items ro have plans to pick these up?

Let me know! Leave a comment below!

Goodbye Dry Flaky Skin, Hello Gorgeous

Let's talk about dry skin.

I have habitually dry skin. My skin can get so dry that I constantly have bits of dry skin falling off my face.  Let me tell you it embarrassing!

My boss, who has no issue embarrassing me whenever she can, actually stopped me mid sentence and picked a piece of skin off my nose! Not to mention she did this in front of all my male co-workers during a staff meeting! I wish I could tell you I was kidding, but I'm not. I can effectively chalk that up to one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Are you cringing reading that too?

Let's just take a moment to really think about what happened. Can you imagine, YOUR BOSS, picking dry skin off your face?! I felt my face go from pasty white to vermillion in 5 seconds flat.

Mortified is the best word to describe that day.

From that day on, I vowed to make my skin glowing and gorgeous, using whatever products I necessary to make that happen. Along my journey to skin greatness, I found some great products that helped me kick my flaky dry skin to the curb.

Who's skin is flaky now?!?

Here are a few of products I have been using the past few months that have really helped my skin, not only with hydration, but also help minimize fine lines.

1. Michael Todd Soniclear Cleansing System
Crazy amazing system, I don't know what I didn't get this years ago!  I did a research and found the Michael Todd Soniclear System was the best fit for me because of their all natural, organic products! Michael Todd has a wide variety of skincare products to choose from as well, everything from cleansers to body cream. The cleansing system came with 3 products that I absolutely love: Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub, Honey & Oat Cleanser and the Charcoal Detox Cleanser (my fave is the Charcoal Detox Cleanser).

2. Clinique Smart Custom- Repair Serum
Shortly after I starting using this I saw a noticeable difference in the fine lines on my face. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking to reduce those fine lines and wrinkles and repair their skin. It's awesome and by far one of the best beauty point redemptions!

3. Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer
An oldie by goodie! Moisturizer and SPF all in one so it not only helps with hydration but also helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

4. Origins Gin Zing Refreshing Eye Cream
I was introduced to this product from Kate from the Small Things Blog a few years ago. Hydration is at the top of the my skincare list but also reducing puffiness and fine lines is a priority! This eye cream is awesome!

5. Renewed Hope in A Jar
Best night cream of life! I've used my fair share of night creams to help with dryness but this one is hands down my favorite. Hope in A Jar isn't oily or thick so it glides on smoothly and dries within a few seconds. It feels great on my skin and leaves my face smooth and silky in the morning.

Using these products, my dry skin has almost disappeared allowing my boss to keep her hands to herself! No more embarrassing flaky skin!

Do any of you have any dry skin tips or tricks? What products are your skincare holy grails?!

Pre-Wedding Gala

We are in the home stretch!! Just two months and Justin and I will be husband and wife! Oh. My. Gosh!

Our reception site, the Legend at Brandybrook, held a fantastic gala for all of the 2015 wedding couples last week which really made everything about the wedding seem real. Up until this point getting married didn't seem real, not that I didn't think our wedding wasn't going to happen, but it's been a year in the making so the fact that it's almost our wedding day surreal!  I've always said, "Oh yeah I'm getting married in April" or "When we get closer to the time we should talk about flowers, favors, logistics of the day...." Even while trying on my wedding dress it never really sunk in that I was getting married. But now! Holy cow!! We're getting MARRIED!!
Everything is coming together and moving at warp speed now that it's becoming more and more real everyday. We don't have the luxury of time anymore and this gala really showcased how close our wedding day really is and how fantastic is it is going to be!

The gala was such a beautiful event that allowed all the guests to taste the Bradybrook's food, provided couples with vendors and recommendations for photographers, DJ's, cakes and decor if they were still in the planning stages. Justin and I had just placed our orders for our invitations (yes I know they are late...) that day, so it was awesome that we were able to try all the food options we had given our guests.
**Since we were running tight on time, Justin and I decided to choose our food without a food tasting which was VERY scary and NOT something I would recommend to couples planning their own wedding.**
Excuse the mess! I wore a simple cream colored shirt with sequin chevrons from Banana Republic, black skinny dress pants by Apt. 9 and my favorite Vera Wang black platform heels.
Luckily, the food was outstanding, and anything we didn't particularly care for was something that we did not chose as a food option! To say I was more than relieved after the gala would be an understatement! I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I could stop worrying about the taste and quality of our food choices.

Since our parents joined us at the gala, we all were able to visualize our day while also giving us some great ideas for decor and flower arrangements. If any of you have the chance to attend an event like this at your reception site, I highly highly recommend it! I have some serious peace of mind and Justin and I crazy excited for our big day!!

Have any of you attended a gala at your reception sites? What did you think after you left?

Here's a few shots from the night!
This is my favorite shot of the Brandybrook! It's so beautiful and reminds me of a castle.

The table set up and and flow of the room is exactly how Justin and I had set up our reception! It was awesome to see everything set up like it would be for the wedding.

Food stations were set up on the dance floor and helped showcase one of the two fantastic fire places that are in the main room.
